The traditional village of Tussah Silk weaving

Tussah silk weaving is a traditional craft of Cao Bat village (Nam Cao commune, Kien Xuong district, Thai Binh province). According to locals, the Nam Cao tussah silk weaving craft was established more than 400 years ago. Initially, tussah fabric was used to tailor clothes for local people and for use in festivals. Later, tussah fabric was exported to many countries around the world. Throughout many historical periods, tussah silk weaving in Nam Cao has experienced both prosperity and decline, but for generations, the people here have remained passionate about the craft. Currently, the Nam Cao tussah silk cooperative has more than 200 artisans, a raw material area of 1,000 hectares, and annual revenue of tens of billions of Vietnamese dongs, bringing high income to the people of the craft village.

Da Nang Weekend sends to readers images of this tussah silk weaving village through the lens of author To Manh (Thai Binh).

Nam Cao tussah silk is famous throughout the country for its uniqueness. The products are handmade with many steps. From the selection of raw materials to the finished product, it requires meticulousness, diligence, and careful attention to detail of the artisans
